Selecting your accommodation is one of the most important decisions when planning a trip. This is especially important in China as you will be entering a foreign culture which is quite drastically different to that which we are used to in the western world. Below are some tips on how to find suitable accommodation in China:
Book before you go to China
The safe option is to book accommodation before you set off. This way you will not have to 
worry about finding somewhere to stay when you arrive. Another benefit is that you will have full access to resources in your own language.
Research the area of China you wish to stay in
Researching the area before you arrive will enable you to be in control of the type of area that you stay in. You will be able to find the areas which are safer and more tourist-friendly.

One of the main benefits of the Internet as a tool in finding accommodation is that it is easy to access reviews for accommodation. Make sure you select accommodation which has good feedback in key areas, such as security and cleanliness. Are you elderly or booking for elderly people to China?
