The culture in China is so very different to that which we are accustomed to here in the western world. For those who are not aware of the distinct difference, a visit to china can be a huge culture shock, in the most positive way. It is amazing to visit China to experience how people who are so similar to us in so many ways are also so very different.
These differences should be savoured and enjoyed by those who visit the region. Below are some of the most interesting things about Chinese culture:
Ethnic Diversity
The nation of China is a diverse nation. It boasts 64 different ethnic groups, meaning that there are a multitude of different cultures for the tourist to explore. These ethnic groups follow different religions and have different ways of life.
The Distribution of the population
Although China is generally associated with its dense populations in city centres, in reality, around 80% of the population if China live in the countryside and live a completely contrasting life to that of those in the cities.
Languages
The language of ‘Chinese’ is often mistakenly regarded as being a single language. In fact, there are a number of different dialects and languages, all of which can be considered as Chinese.
Structure of the day
The Chinese tend to rise extremely early, often around 6am. They will then exercise or visit religious institutions before beginning their working day. A midday break is taken, similar to that taken by the Spanish, time which is spent with the family, eating and sleeping.
