Shanghai Dance Festival
China is a country which loves the opportunity to host a major event; indeed it hosts more events than many other countries around the world. It is also a country in which dance plays a major part in the culture and the way in which the people express themselves. It is no surprise then that one of the best known festivals which take place in the city of Shanghai 
each year is the Shanghai Dance Festival.
Each year for around 5 weeks the city comes to life with the sights and sounds of some of the best dance performances from China and around the world. At various venues around the city, as well as in the streets, some of the best performers from this part of the world are complimented by great artists from around the world to expose the population of Shanghai, and indeed the entire country, to an all around dance experience. It is a way to broaden their minds in terms of what dance can offer and experience the values of other cultures which are so lovingly expressed through dance.
As well as the significant number of superb dance performances which are put on, there are also a number of lectures, workshops and other events related to dance. Although the show is relatively young in comparison to other festivals in the area, it is highly anticipated nonetheless. This festival may not be as extravagant as some of the festivals in the city, but the class and care with which it is delivered make it just as enjoyable.
